There Is Enough...

Matthew 14:15-18 (NRSV)
"When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, 'This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.' Jesus said to them, 'They need not go away; you give them something to eat.' They replied, 'We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.' And he said, 'Bring them here to me.'"

The people are looking hungry. The disciples are worried. All they have are five loaves and two fish, only enough for two-three of them to eat and yet there are multitudes to feed. They find Jesus and ask him to release the people to go and eat. Jesus has other plans. This is a test. "...you give them something to eat." The disciples look at each other, "We have nothing here..." Building on his words from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus helps them to see the potential in the resources that they have readily available. Passing through his hands, distributed by the disciples themselves, there is enough.
